19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player won his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an better serving game.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.
He defended 4 early break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
